Waxing Tips & Tricks
Jun 23, 2011
Whether it’s your first wax with us or your first wax ever, we know getting waxed can be a nerve-racking experience. At Beauty Company we take pride in providing a clean, comfortable and enjoyable environment for all our waxing clients. Please read below for insider tips on getting the best wax possible.
- Before your wax:
Let your hair grow out at least 1/4 of an inch. If you normally shave, stop doing so about 3 weeks before your appointment.
Gently exfoliate your bikini line the night before; this can be done daily (gently!) to reduce ingrown hairs.
Shower before your appointment, and do not soak in a hot bat, work out or tan for the rest of the day following your wax. Raising your body temperature can irritate your freshly plucked hair follicles.
Some clients choose to take Advil or Ibuprofen shortly before their appointment to lessen pain and swelling.
- During your wax:
Relax! Our technician is a trained professional; you are in the best hands. If you have any questions or concerns, voice them to her and she will explain the procedure.
Let your technician know if you have had issues with waxing in the past, or if you’re on any medication (including retinal, glyolic/salicylic/lactic acid, skin lighteners, etc.
- After your wax:
We recommend TendSkin or PFB Vanish to lessen redness and reduce ingrown hairs.
Anticipate a bit of irritation and redness. It will dissipate shortly.
Come back in 4-6 weeks for maintenance. Remember it’s different for everyone; monitor the rate your hair grows back. Finally, thank you for choosing us for your waxing needs! We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Remember, waxing is superior to shaving since it removes hair from the root. When shaving, you create a blunt-cut hair that is prone to ingrowns and begins growing again within hours. If you have any additional questions please let one of our expert employees know, we’d be happy to answer them for you!
