New to sunless tanning? Already a seasoned expert? Fall somewhere in between?
Fear not, as Beauty Company is here to explain all the ins-and-out of spray tanning to you. At Beauty Company we exclusively do a customized, one-on-one application for each client. Our extensively trained experts walk you through your whole service (ranging from 15-30 minutes) to ensure you’re comfortable the entire time. Read below for more information.
Before your service:
Come with your skin showered, shaved & exfoliated. It is recommended to shave and exfoliate between 48-24 hours ahead of time, NOT the day of (your skin will be more supsebtible to irritation).
Day of your service:
Use no lotions, moisturizers deodarants or makeup (if you were wearing these earlier in the day, just remove them before you spray tan). Any topical solutions can act as a barrier between your skin and the solution. You want your skin as clean, dry and natural as possible.
Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing (you will be more comfortable when you leave) and flip flops – you do not want to put your feet in regular shoes right away (this could streak your feet!).
During your service:
Your spray tan artist is an experienced professional. It’s normal to feel shy, but our expertly-trained ladies will put you to ease in no time! First you will undress. Some people prefer to go nude, while most wear disposable G-string panties (available complimentary at Beauty Company). Some people wear a bikini bottom. Please do whatever your comfortable with, but remember the tan line will be dramatic – you may not want a completely pale derrière!
Next you will place a plastic cap over your hair and step into the tent. The artist will direct you (when to turn to the side, the back, how to move your arms, etc). The solution dries quickly and has a lovely smell, and you will be completed with the actual spray in roughly 10 minutes or less. The spray tan artist will gently guide you through the positions, so there is no room for error. Please don’t touch anywhere on yourself – you may streak your tan. Let the artist guide you as directed.
After the spray is done, the artist will leave the room so you can redress. Take your time and come downstairs to checkout when your ready.
After your service:
Wait to shower for at least 6 hours. You will begin seeing color, but it develops over time so let it soak in as long as possible. You will rinse some of the bronzer off in your first shower after your spray tan, but lasting color will remain for 5-7 days.
Keep in mind the more you shower, exfoliate, exercise, sweat, swim, etc. will all affect the life of your tan. Gently exfoliate (with a loofah or washcloth) in the shower to keep your tan nice and even. If any areas begin to fade quicker than others, exfoliate the darker areas until everything matches.
Most of all, enjoy your beautiful glow! Maintain as often as desired.

Tanning Tips

To avoid awkward tanning lines (sides of body, underarms, etc.) move around a bit during your session. Alternate lifting each leg for a couple minutes at a time, and spend the last half of your session with your arms over your head. Place the thick pillow under your neck and lean back, exposing your neck to the light (it’s easy to tuck your head and get white lines on your neck/under chin). To reduce burning your face (often a sensitive spot) turn the facial tanner off halfway through your session.
We always recommend using an indoor-tanning lotion to moisturize and deepen your tan. It MUST be indoor lotion – outdoor tanning lotions will not be effective and can harm the acrylic of the beds. Use indoor-specific lotion before you get in the bed, and use your regular moisturizers after your sessions. Hydrated skin retains its elasticity and remains youthful.
Build your base tan gradually; this way you don’t burn and your tan will last longer. Ask our expert team for recommendations specifically for you – based on your skin type and previous UV exposure. Beginning tanning for short amounts (often 5 minutes or less) and build up to your desired level. After achieving your base color, maintain your tan by going once or twice a week.
Further prolong your tan with Coco Loco’s “Suntastic” bar soap. This ultra-moisturizing brown soap provides critical hydration from shea butter while intensifying the tan on your skin. Ask our experts for more details on this fabulous secret to elongate your bronze.
